A Christian school can be described as a school that is run by or under the guidance of a Christian institution or group. Christian schools offer the same education that other public schools offer but with a strong emphasis on spirituality and a strong spiritual framework. They also offer Bible based curriculum, art, music, science and prayer as well as social and physical activities. The curriculum of a Christian school should always consist of the same subjects as those taught in the public school and the main difference is that instead of the liberalising influences of the liberal elite of the mainstream academia, the Christian education teaches values based education.

Parents are apprehensive about sending their children to a Christian School because they are afraid that the character development will be limited and that their children will not be challenged intellectually. However, in recent times, this is not the case. These days many Christian schools have put in place plans and programmes that enable their students to develop good character and intellect. This character development is of paramount importance because it forms the foundation for a healthy life in adulthood.

The curriculum of a christian schools is primarily Bible based and there is very little or no focus on liberal arts, history or other academic excellence courses. As mentioned earlier, the teaching methodology of the Christian schools in Tampa is largely dependent on the Bible and the understanding of the teachings of Jesus. So, what are the different types of programs that are offered in a christian private school? The different subjects include mathematics, science, history, geography, and religious practices and rituals. Geography is the study of a place and its surrounding environment and this includes both the natural and geographical features as well as the human presence within them.

History is considered the most important subject as it teaches the chronological sequence of the world and its development through time. For this subject, the teaching methodologies are influenced by the assumption that the world was created at the beginning of time and that all the civilizations who have flourished throughout the course of history have contributed their own mark to the creation of the world. For the biblical students of the Christian schools, the historical accounts represent the divine history of the Old Testament and the life of the God. They are also taught the Christian religion and its importance in the lives of believers.

Religious education is one of the most important components of the curriculum of the Christian schools. All the teachings related to the Christian religion including the ethics and the acts of worship must be inculcated into the minds of the children. Religions and their practices have been the major influences in the history of the world and this is also reflected in the curriculum of the Bayshore schools. Religious education lays greater stress on the use of biblical verses in the curriculum in order to inculcate the basic aspects of the Christian religion and the essentials of Biblical teachings.

The teaching methodology is also influenced by the theory of the creation and the universal salvation of mankind. The Christian schools aim at providing a safe environment for the learning of the Christian faith to the students and parents who seek for such a training. Christian schools are also regarded as being more beneficial to the students and parents who cannot afford private education and prefer the Christian atmosphere for their child.
